Peel|ite «PEE lyt», noun.
(in English history) one of a party of Conservatives who sided with Sir Robert Peel after the repeal of the Corn Laws in 1846. They continued for some years to form a group intermediate between the protectionist Tories and the Liberals, and finally joined the Liberal Party.
